Discussion thread -- 75 WORD WRITING CHALLENGE January 2013

Thought I'd better get something up, otherwise I'll never get started on the 300 :O Not entirely happy with my 75, I don't ordinarily do anything resembling satire or humour, but hey, take it how you will!

I'd normally put up an entry much earlier in the month than this, but I've been AWOL for a short while.

For those of you who may have noticed (Chrispy ;)), I also missed December's voting. Unfortunately, I had a pretty rough end to the month, which involved the sudden death of a friend, and also my Mum's passing following her brave fight against cancer. To say my head wasn't in the best of places would be putting it mildly.

My entry this month is the first time I've attempted writing anything for quite a while, and my first foray into Cyberpunk, so I hope it isn't too poor an effort.

Thanks for the comments Starbeast!

With pleasure Vertigo.

No effort is too poor around here. Condolences on your losses, and welcome back.

I echo Hopewrites words. It is good to see you again Mr Forshaw.

Lucky Lola - I love these stories where someone stands up for himself/herself, excellent.

Scott R. Forshaw - You got me hooked, I want more! But alas, we can only use 75 words, however, you used them marvelously.

Lola – A very smile inducing look at a future not too far away. I particularly liked the ‘profanity’ at the start. A world where we have all become enslaved by technology at our fingertips. Who knows what it would mean, perhaps slaves without even knowing it. But it only takes one to understand, to stand up and claim his freedom.

Scott – What struck me about this one was a feeling of a future, a dark one
where men make themselves more and more like machines as the machines themselves try their best to become more human. At which point would the line be crossed? In this instance though we see that possible alliances can change like the flick of the switch, and perhaps that is where humans have the advantage. A solid foundation, something could easily grow from this.

Scott, I'm sorry for your losses. Condolences.

Scott, my condolences. I hope 2013 treats you much more kindly.

In the mean time, that's a good entry. Well done. :)

I'll add my sympathies to the pile. For one loss, let alone two, there are no words.

Starbeast - thank you, ma'am. (It is ma'am, isn't it? My apologies if I've erred!)

Perp - I'm pleased it made you smile - and I deliberated over the 'profanity' for some time!

Echoing the condolences Scott. Losing people you love is one of the saddest moments of human existence.

My condolences, Scott. The loss of a family member, and friends, is a rough experience to go though. Know that we are here to share it with you and I'm sure we will all be thinking of you in the days to come.

Scott - i can only echo those thoughts expressed above; sorry to hear your news. Good to see you back.

My condolences Scott. My mother passed away just over a year ago and I still think about her every day.

I'm so sorry for your loss, Scott :( I lost my brother a few years ago. I can't even imagine losing my mother, I'm so sorry :(
