Discussion thread -- 75 WORD WRITING CHALLENGE February 2013

Starbeast Thanks for the kind review.

Thanks for the review Perp...I can't help but think that no one is catching what I did on this one, and to me with out that the story is awful!!

Either that or its not as original as I was hoping :(

Focus on the bold words!!

I got it right away, Ratsy. To the top of the class I go. ;):D Very inventive; excellent story.

Thanks, also, to Starbeast for a great review. You're far too kind, sir. :)

This is annoying. I try and avoid reading any entries till vote time so that I can read them all fresh in one go.

Now I'm starting to feel Paranoid.

Just got it, talk about slow on the uptake.

Very clever ratsy, my hat is off. You can tell it's mine. It's the one with the big D on it

Perp, you of all people should not say that about yourself. You have a fantastic insight into everyones writing.

And it is great that you can always write a Positive review regardless of the story. My hat goes off to you sir...

I bet that is tough, especially when you've read through the discussion thread, Luiglin. I, for one, would find it impossible not to go and have a quick peek. But I guess that's me; I can be an impatient so-and-so, at times.

And just to make it even more of a drag for you, there are some absolute beauties in there, so far. You still won't look, though, will you? ;):D

Not even a peek, just a tiny little peek?
SRF, you are naughty. :p

There are a lot of great ones...I am amazed at the skill in poetry here, which is something my brain does not understand how to write.

Luiglin, do you know if they would sell the "Gran's basilisk fat ointment" into Canada? It is quite dry here right now...lol

Nope ... I am strong in my writing faith and dosed up with Swedish cider :)

Thanks to both of you for the complementary comments.
I admire the time you two put in to not just read but find the best in every post. I'd love to join you, as I've enjoyed doing them in the past, but time restrictions prevent me. So I just want to throw an extra special thank you out their for dedicating your time and good will to comments.

Very sweet of you to say that Hopewrites. Perhaps next time you can join the reviewing.

Cheers SB

You're welcome Luiglin.

Thanks for the review, Starbeast. :)

Absolutely, Abernovo.

Indeed, thank you for the review, Starbeast.:)

You're very welcomed Talysia.

Thank you, Starbeast, for the fair review.

You're welcome Bowler1.

Thanks SB and Perp for the reviews.

You're welcome AMB.

Thanks guys, appreciate it :)

I hinted at it by saying "heavy wordage". Hmm, perhaps I should have said "bold font wordage". :D However you did get positive feedback to let you know others did notice.

Starbeast Thanks for the kind review.

You're welcome Parson.

Glen - Very intense words of iron. I could put music to your mighty entry and it would sound like a heavy metal song. Or I could shout these words to a crowd of people, giving them a powerful message. Good stuff!

Juliana - Yes, there is more to life then keeping a living thing to be your slave, only to obtain riches from it. Wonderful tale, you got me a little misty with this pleasent story.

Thank you, Starbeast, for the fair review.

The open theme has the enteries flowing in, I predict a high posting count this month. Chrispy, if your around, what is the highest number of postings in a 75 word competition?

Nearly perfectly circular– indeed, attempting spherical.

75 entries in April 2012. Post apocalyptic and the second anniversary.

The end of the world, I should have known that would attract some attention! :p It would be fitting if life could pull ahead, redress the balance.

SB – When you consider all the stories about alien abduction, they are generally not very nice. So it is great to see the opposing view point, a place where not only are humans taken care of, but they are in almost impossible terms of luxury and comfort. I loved the way the new arrival was swayed so easily, and it’s not surprising when you look at the argument. And then there was chocolate. They’d have had me with that.

Talysia – Quite a lot of the entries this month have put little shivers down my spine. (This is a good thing) and this is another one. It evokes such a simple scene, a reader and a writer, one reading the others works. But the thought that the stories that he is reading might be the lives of the people living, and his reading them is what actually gives them life gives a story of such subtle power that it is amazing.

RJM – A beautiful and yet sad story that examines the downside to a long life, one that it seems cannot be stopped to easily. An android that outlasts its creators, with no real direction other than to live, but the ending is of hope and light, of possibility, a solid reminder that nothing is forever, and that a light can come to even the darkest of times.

Luiglin – I chuckled all the way through this great little tale and hope that I was meant to. A totally different take on the theme and one that captures the character perfectly. I loved the little touches, like hero school, and the ending might have been a bit risqué but it was nigh on priceless.

Scott - I took a while with this one trying to just work out what I was reading, not that I did not enjoy it, it was more try to nail down the particulars – the superhero lover in me trying to get to the core as it were – so we have a cat man of some description, six lives down and three left. I like the detail that is squeezed in, the lights of the city, the realisation that more care is needed, all making up a good, solid tale.

Or maybe it’s just a cat.

Spot on Perp. I thought that I'd pay a visit back to the same world as my Dark Lord and his blow up sacrifice from an earlier 75.

Sort of Carry On Sword n Sorcery :)

My pleasure Luiglin, although now I have the image in my head of the Carry On cast in the various roles.

Some of it is not pretty.
