Two more have just arrived. Victoria Silverwolf and I have just posted within an hour of each other.

I must have counted my words twenty times. Oh the paranoia.

After I got a title for the story, I rechiseled my tale a tad.

Whew! Now I can relax.

There is a growing problem with uniforms and costumes on here that is starting to worry me. Not that I have that problem, nooooo, not me.

springs -- Power may come at a very heavy price, particularly if it was not chosen freely. When circumstances force us to bear a heavy burden, it may be more effective to concentrate on single individuals rather than a group for courage and inspiration.

johnnyjet -- That which seems astonishing to us may appear to be worthless when seen through the eyes of another. Yet we hold on to that which is dear to us, even if we must keep it hidden away.

Karn Maeshalanadae -- Great events may be perceived in more than one way. Even those who participate in them may not be fully aware of what is happening, or what role they may play in the full scheme of things.

Juliana -- Seen from one perspective, we are all helpless in the face of the chaos which surrounds us. From another perspective, each one of us has a vital role to play.

Bowler1 -- The history of civilization might be described as humanity's constant struggle to survive against the relentless laws of nature. Although this struggle may seem futile at times, there are moments of triumph.

ratsy -- One way to look at the timeless themes of literature is to wonder how things might have been different. Even by deflating the pretentions of enduring works of art through gentle mockery, we gain insight into them.

Remedy -- The gains that humanity has made through the use of technology cannot be denied. With every advance, however, there are dangers. We must be aware of these, and not allow our inventions to destroy us.

Starbeast -- The larger-than-life characters of popular culture may seem far different from ourselves. Properly depicted, however, we realize that they are merely reflections of our own weaknesses and desires.

My idea has been scuttling around beneath the surface of my mind for the last two weeks, but it has finally ventured out. Now, I should do some real work.

TitaniumTi -- In the vast sweep of time, nothing is constant. Everything we know will be swept away, and whatever replaces it will also be swept away in turn. This makes what we have now even more important.

martin321 -- No doubt each of us has felt like a stranger in a strange land at one time or another. The wisest approach to such a situation might be to put on a wry grin and reflect on the humorous side of things.

Just submitted my first ever attempt at the 300 word challenge.. phew it is certainly harder than the 75 words! Had the idea simmering for a few days.. so hopefully it has come out ok. Had to submit it to stop me fiddling with it!

Was fun to do, and the picture was fab to work with. :)

mosaix -- The eternal conflict between the individual and the group requires a delicate balance between freedom and responsibility. An important aspect of this struggle is the power of societal norms.

SleepyDormouse -- Often it seems as if nature and people are conspiring to defeat us. With enough courage and determination, one can face many challenges and overcome them.

well the story i had at 600 words just did not want to get any shorter. try as i might, i could only knock off 50 words, and even then i feel like it's not the story i want it to be...

so this morning i shelved it, to be used in some other medium, and started again . the story i now have is a much more manageable 350 words at the moment...

fitzchivalry -- The eternal problem of crime and punishment admits of no easy solution. In the endless quest for justice, some may be tempted to leave the outcome to fate; but can this arbitrary dealing with the question of guilt and innocent be any more effective than other systems, no matter how corrupt they may be?
