Thank you Victoria and Starbeast for the reviews. I always look forward to those wee gifts :)

Thanks for the review SB. As always your comments are much appreciated.

...threw out my idea of pirate-sharks...

You threw out the pirate-sharks? Keep 'em. I expect a novella at least. Cap'n Hook gets to loose a leg this time :D

Thank you. Ms. Silverwolf. Perspicacious as usual.

You threw out the pirate-sharks?

It was going to be more along the lines of: The animal that next evolved to sentience and an intelligence to rival humanity was actually sharks instead of primates. Like their fins reverted back to limbs, then they wanted to leave polluted waters and claim the land. The first invasion taking place on the structure in the picture... but then the idea all got a bit too far fetched and wild. I considered turning it into a comedy (hence the sharks suddenly became crazy pirates) but my other idea took over before it became a thing. :D

Thank you for your review, Starbeast.

You're welcome TitaniunTi. Nice to meet you.

Thanks for the comments Victoria and SB

You're very welcome Perpetual Man.

Thank you Starbeast.

Voting soon. It's always good to live in hope. ;) Splitting my three votes will difficult, there is a good range of stories already up - who to pick???

You're welcome Bowler1. Don't worry about the word, I'm sure we've all made that mistake before. And yes, narrowing the choices to pick only three, will be tough (once again).

Thank you Victoria and Starbeast for the reviews. I always look forward to those wee gifts :)

You're welcome Remedy. I agree, that the little things in life that we enjoy, are great pleasures to us personally.

Thanks for the review SB. As always your comments are much appreciated.

I'm glad you enjoy them Ratsy.

Phyrebrat - I like this character that you have created, because for a person who can not speak (a deaf/mute), she certainly has a great deal to say. Though she is disgruntled, weary, dissatisfied and highly depressed in her situation, I delighted in her observations. Uniquely entertaining.

Alchemist - Wow. A conversation between two people, with one hanging from a ledge. And the dangling councilman is the one that will make a difference after he dies. But it's Kal who speeds up the process, and, "Look out below!" This tale is definately unexpected excellence.

Darn, I've got to go. I shall return. :)

Darn it, Glister. I have a society, a sub-culture, some mythological elements and a sci-fantasy blend. I need 100k words and I have no time!!! Memo for future, no exciting imagery to fire me up. 'Tis dangerous. :D

Please write the 100k words. I want to read them.

TheDustyZebra -- Experience teaches us that memory is a very tricky thing, subject to great distortions. Sometimes it is best not to remember.

The Spurring Platty -- As technology advances, the temptation to fall into arrogance increases as well. Pride goeth before a fall, indeed, and the greater the pride, the greater the fall.

Argh! got it in... first too short then much too long.. now hopefully it will be like the little bear's porridge, just right.. (must stop fidging with it..)

Hey, Goldilocks, I made it, too! :D

Thanks for the review, Victoria!

Yes, many thanks for the reviews, both Victoria and SB. Why can't I write the stories to match the reviews they get.

Ah, stories pouring in from the brinksmen. Brinkspeople? Means massive read in coming up.

But you will have fifteen days (and 25+ minutes) to read and vote.

Another desperate entry from me: I only thought up the title (which I first thought was a final line) yesterday. The plot (about the plan) arrived early this morning (i.e. before getting to sleep); only when I finally got to putting it on paper (or LCD display) did I realise that I had a "means" and an "opportunity" but little or no motive. (Actually, I had about three of them, but none made sense when, with increasing desperation, I was typing them.)

But, luckily, one can always rely on Man's greed.
