Thank you to Parson and johnnyjet for the short-listings!

Glen ... You were not the one I expected to hear from about the place name. :D:D Actually I've been to the village of Edgerton several times during my life.

Hmmm. Haven't read any of the stories yet, but obviously I need to take a look at yours right away.

I have heard there are towns by the name of Edgerton in several states. Which, by my estimate, means there are about as many towns by that name as there are people.

Many thanks for the mentions, Martin and Hope and a huge thanks to Karn for the stealth vote.

As always everyone did a remarkable job and equited themselves astoundingly. There were a couple of newcomers who did themselves proud.

Once again the quality makes the narrowing down to a short list and a vote a near impossibility, but here we go:

Honourable mentions:

Bowler
Ratst
Remedy
Martin
Sleepy

A So Close for
Aun

A Special mention for making me smile: It is a silly place, telford!

And the vote goes to... Hex

Thanks for the long-listing, johnnyjet, and for the shortlisting, SleepyDormouse. :)

fitzchivalry -- The jumping rhythm of this folk ballad reflects the cool, ironic viewpoint of a god examining humanity.

George Ian -- The author creates a somber and thoughtful portrait of war.

crystal haven -- A clever modern fairy tale with intriguing characterization.

SleepyDormouse -- The use of vivid sensory images provides the contrast needed for the comic conclusion.

stormcrow -- The power of ritual is captured in this eerie and mysterious tale.

The Spurring Platty -- The joy and sorrow of love is aptly rendered in this poetic fable.

Boneman -- The author successfully weaves a new, original creation myth.

Culhwch -- The mysteries of the infinite are brought to the level of the personal in this sensitive story.

The Judge -- The reader is swept across time in this epic account.

TheDustyZebra -- The way in which we react to unexplained events is convincingly rendered in this slyly ironic tale.

Ursa Major -- The pain of loss and regret is made real in this variation on an ancient legend.

Hex- Excellent use of dance and mythic feel
HareBrain- same, explanatory. It feels like it could belong to a present day culture
Titanium Ti- Modern day rain dance. Nice.
Parson- Title allusion draws me in. Nice modernization of the Pied Piper. :)
Perpetual Man- Somehow, it makes me sad. I dont know why.
Mosaix- "funny" indeed. I'm still chuckling
Boneman- This is how I would like to believe the universe began.

nicely done all. I'm sorry to those who's tales were to tall* for me. But I enjoyed reading them all.

*they went over my head.

Victoria Silverwolf and Hopewrites --- Thanks for the shorlistings. This has been a real good month for being mentioned. The Parson begins to believe that he managed to hang onto a genre he little understood.

Thank you Sleepy (good luck too) and Perp.

I like seeing an even spread of votes too, some excitement to help the popcorn along.

Surprise, surprise. Many thanks to Tactical Loco and Perp for the mentions.

Hmm, difficult choice. Somehow, I got it down to three: crystal haven, SleepyDormouse, and mosaix. I could happily have voted for any (or all three) of them. In the end, mosaix won the throw of the die.

Okay, deep breath, and ...
Honorable mentions:
Springs
Victoria
Hex
Titanium
Juliana
Teresa
Boneman
TJ (oh, sooo close)
At the end of the day the image stayed with me: Martin 321, well done.

Thank you, Glen and TacticalLoco, for your mentions for my Shortfellow (I'd have made it rhyme, but the original didn't)

After eliminating too many for annoying grammar and punctuation oversights my list came down to:-

springs' Wrong ring rang
Hex's Flautist
ratsy's BBW fête accompli
Wazkal's Feyhunt
Parson's Pied Pauper
Teresa Edgerton's Lac des Cygnes
mosaix' Break, break
SleepyDormouse's Nymphly urgency
Boneman's Planetary scrambling
Ursa major's Eurydiche

And the vote? Is it important? I went for Mosaix' heliotropic spectacle.
