DISCUSSION -- June 2014 75 Word Writing Challenge

Ha, and I just thought I was being funny! :D

Alchemist with a chicken ranch...there ought to be a story in that. (Blatant bid for bringing the thread back on topic, there.)

A quick google tells me it's a rural brothel which is most certainly not legal in Donegal.

Alc may indeed have a chicken farm buried somewhere in his huge park - sorry, um.... Garden. :D But I sincerely hope it isn't of the ranch variety.... ;)

I never thought I'd be discussing this on a Saturday...

The Chicken Ranch was, afaik, the rural Irish equivalent of Hooters (not that I've ever been to one; this is based on years watching "Married with Children"), based somewhere in the midlands. There was a brief media hoo-ha about it over fifteen years ago.

If somebody wants to write a historical fiction story around, best check with the mods first ;)

Scantily clad women flirting with the customers while they serve food. Got it. It would be far more exciting in my 75 word version. Alas I have already submitted.

Well, now, if it's only the equivalent of Hooters, it shouldn't be a problem for a Challenge story -- it's a family-friendly restaurant, after all. :D

I may have to look into chicken ranches, as the inspiration for anything else hasn't surfaced yet. I sitll keep thinking of alternative history.

crystal haven -- The quiet tone of this story provides an effective contrast with the dark consequences it promises.

A. Fare Wells -- This subtle and mysterious tale respects the intelligence and knowledge of its reader.

Tywin -- Through powerful language, the impact of a violent place and time is vividly conveyed.

Aun Doorback -- Convincing details provide a believable portrait of a momentous time in history.

Glen -- The jagged layout of this story fits well with its twisted sense of humor.

I've been keeping away, as all this talk of chickens was utterly distracting! But finally came up with something - it insisted on being written as poetry, so I apologize for that!! :D

Well, I've posted. The root of the story is true.

Well done to the new entrants! And I agree with Tywin, Juliana, your poem is terrific! CC

johnnyjet -- This story makes use of haunting images to create a sense of paranoia within the reader's mind.

Juliana -- The author creates a rollicking ballad with just the right touch of bawdy wit.

Parson -- Through the use of psychological insight, this tale reveals the darkness within the human heart.
