DISCUSSION -- October 2014 75 Word Challenge

Starbeast -- The author captures the style of a noted writer of the macabre in this playful spoof.

Thank you Victoria. I had Lovecraft staggering around like a zombie in the back of my mind.

"Things That Go BUMP In The Night"

Juliana - It's true when people say, "Our dear departed relatives are always with us". And in this ghostly goodie, it ooze's the literal truth.

Remedy - Let the music play, you won't get away. You scream and then, the sound strikes you again. A haunted horror hit, with a didgeridoo. Yes!

Cat's Cradle - Delightful young monster hunting club tale. This put a smile on my skull face. Good title you chose.

Karn Maeshalanadae - A marvelous retelling of a classic chiller thriller, about the legend of a "death rider", who claims heads.

Robert Mackay - A hotel for the spirits of the undead, with a creepy servant. Mu-ha ha ha ha ha. Spooktacular.

Farntfar - Ahh, a poem. Very atmospheric, and frightfully entertaining. I read it with a sinister whisper.

Ashleyne B. Watts - Cold and rotton, wait..(sniff sniff) That's me! Astounding and disturbing story, nicely written.

Ratsy - Ooo, another wonderful rhyme. I like the red highlights that accent your blood dripping treat. Very tasty indeed. Heh heh.

VALIS13 - This untitled gruesome creation painfully rips into your mind, and squishes your brain, in a good way. Sickeningly good stuff.

Kerrybuchanan - A Frankenstien tale, I love it. Especially when you cue us in at the end. He's always been my favorite, "mad" doctor.

WinterLight - Psychotic and chilling to the bone. A shocking rythmic tale of terror. Well done sir, and like you, I like mine, raw.

Victoria Silverwolf - Officers! Arrest that man! But first, let's eat popcorn, sip soda, and enjoy another Victoria Silverwolf macabre treat.

Telford - Home sweet hell. Mu-ha ha ha ha ha. A living, killer house story. It's wild, wicked, and woody. With a crunchy gory filling.

"Things That Go BUMP In The Night"

(another 13 tales)

HareBrain - A giant monster tale, I love it. Creeping, crawling and hungry, with a fun ending. Spectacular and spidery goodness.

Martin321 - Alien creatures from outer space, I love it. Awesome late night horror movie entertainment. Wait, did something just land in the backyard?

Holland - Whoa. A message for help. Fantastic and outstanding unexpected horror treat. I'll text him back. "Good Night." (send) Heh heh.

Hex - You've conjured a tale, to make the reader's skin shiver, and delight, with the evil of, your thriller. Cool creature feature.

Void - My face twists in hideous ways, as I read your nightmarish story that made me gag, in a good way. Ghoulishly great.

Chrispenycate - This was unexpected. You build me up into a mass of terror, then clobber me with a comical ending. Very cool.

Darkchrome - Mmm, fried onions and mildew. Huh, oh! Spooky and eerie atomsphere highlight this darkened freaky treat.

Talysia - Shocking medieval horror tale that grabs you by the leg, and makes the reader scream along with pleasure. Well done.

Teresa Edgerton - I like these stories that frighten you with unseen monsters, it makes your mind fill in the terror. Mu-ha ha ha ha.

A Fare Wells - What is more terrible, attacking beasts, or being a prisoner of a keeper. Tremendously disturbing, in a good way.

Mr Orange - Chatting with Death, himself, like he's another good friend. Mu-ha ha ha ha ha. Marvelous and funny-boned.

Tywin - Everybody sing! She'll be crumbling and rotton when she comes. She'll be...(cough cough). Sorry. Romantic horror, great idea.

Glen - I thought employment for the living was tough, but you showed us it ain't. Even after the fat lady sings, then drops dead from too much fried food. Good stuff.

Hehehehehe. Perhaps your initial view was a bit off with mine, SB, but thanks for the comment all the same. :) And good to see you back at it. The reviews are one of the best parts of the challenge...no, in fact, seeing them is THE best part.

I would try them again, but, that one time I did, such a disastrous attempt, it was a wonder and a miracle I was able to show my face around these parts afterwards...

Thanks for the reviews! I like "Spooktacular" as a word.

The Beast is back. Yay. Thanks for the review, Beasty.

You're very welcome Telford. It's great to be back.

Thank you for the complement Karn. Here's a treat for your Trick-or-Treat bag.

Karn Maeshalanadae - A marvelous retelling of a classic chiller thriller, about the legend of a "death rider", who can't wear a hat.

Many thanks for the review, Starbeast.:)

You're very welcome Talysia.

Thanks for reviews Victoria and Starbeast!

You're welcome Holland.

Thanks for the reviews! I like "Spooktacular" as a word.

You're welcome Robert Mackey. I've heard "Spooktacular" on tv a few times, and I like it too.

Why, thank you, Starbeast! :)

You're mighty welcome, Lady Juliana.

Thanks for the review SB. Yes. I had a very specific voice in my head as I was writing it.

And thanks for your comments also Mr. Orange, which I only just noticed. :)

No, nothing to do with hats...:D

I'm sure you get my meaning, but I am not allowed to reveal finer points-whatever they may be-until after voting is over. Suffice it to say that...I can't say. It would ruin things. Suffice it to say simply that "death rider" isn't quite the accurate term for the entity.

I'm in with both my 300 and 75ers now. I was driving myself inane [sic] with revisions and figured I should just let them escape and deal with the repercussions later.

I'm 100 pages into The Folding and 2/3rds through a beta so I needed to get these babies out of my headspace and get back on task.

"Things That Go BUMP In The Night"

(part 3)

Phyrebrat - I likes me a good revenge from the dead story. And yours was a fine example, right out of the bag. A zombified pleasure.

Good luck on the book Phyrebrat. So glad you could join us here, amongst the living. It wouldn't be the same without you.

You're very welcome Farntfar. I'm so glad, that you listened to the voice.

Heh heh. I know it wasn't about hats, I was referring to the original story, which inspired you. Yours was different, with familiar roots. Well done sir.
