SS the 5th

Well, it's been lovely talking to you all about this quaint little idea of story writing, I'll be going now.
Oh, wait - you mean I actually signed up to it already? I wondered what the strange message was in my Inbox !

Oooooh, ooooh, oooooh. I have a plan. Wriggles fingers.

Um... But it's a long plan. If I end up writing a book about this when I have a serious writing backlog the person is in trouble.

So, um, what's my deadline for my 90k ss? :p :D

I love the SS challenge; I don't, though, know if 'challenge' is a correct way of describing SS (there's no voting a winner as with the 75 & 300 words challenges), but I'm writing stories longer than I ever imagined possible, so there is for me a great deal of--truly inspirational--challenge involved with SS.

My story though has spiralled out of control again, at least from a word-count perspective. I've got 6k written, and it's barely more than the outline, and roughed-out sketches for a number of scenes. I have no idea how long this will be! (How does a person actually write a story targeted at 1,500 words? The rush of ideas doesn't seem to allow that!:))

Now, that said, there's no guarantee that I will have, say, 10k words of quality writing at the end of this, but I'm trying very hard to create a tale that my story recipient will enjoy. It seems as though there's all the time in the world left to finish, but I suspect writing deadlines approach at a gallop, and not a trot. Well, I'm off now to the forest, to harvest wood. Hope you all are doing really well with your stories! CC

....goes off and has a pep talk to her silly fingers that never seem to want to type all that..

Way to go CC...I have a whole.....zero words and no ideas

I figure I'll just wait till a week before the due date and come up with a masterpiece :)

:) Thank you for your nice words! But oy, I would be so lost at Nanowrimo! Sadly ideas are never my problem, it's stitching everything together that's causing my hair to fall out! I've got 6,500 words of story details and dialogue, and now that I'm trying to connect everything, I am unsure of which POV I should use...it's a total lack of experience, and it's a bit scary to not know how best to proceed. I've considered first...various thirds; I thought about doing the whole thing as dialogue, but figured that might drive my story-receiver mad. I even thought of writing it as a play, because it seems you HAVE to do a lot of telling in plays (which really appeals to me since I am such a novice).

But I think I'll just keep writing in third to get a first draft done, and then I'll re-read the thing, and decide then if there's a better way. It's all very interesting, though--yi-yi-yi, writing is not easy! :)

And you'll be fine, ratsy! I bet you'll hit on a concept, and have the whole thing done well before the deadline! (As long as the December holidays don't interfere...if I'm not done by Christmas I think I can kiss the deadline goodbye!:))

I had an idea, started writing, then stalled. Still looking for a way out of neutral. In the meantime, if you see me along the road, stop and pick me up please. Thanks.

Finally got an idea!
Came to me about halfway through this morning's run, just after I jumped into a hedge to avoid the tractor.

I'm slightly exaggerating for dramatic effect (not about the tractor, that actually happened) as I haven't been completely blank, but I only had the whispiest of notions. I think it may have evolved into proper fog, so I just need to get my knitting needles out now :)

Oh god, I forgot about this too! I have a lot on. It's not due in any time soon, is it? Someone give me a poke when the deadline's near.

'I'm sorry I haven't be able to write a story for you this time!' said Springs, never. :p

As Victoria has said, there's no need to panic yet, you all have at least around 6 weeks. I should say, however, that I have had 2 in but am unable to send them out until I have everyone's email addresses.

Also, be warned... if you say you haven't written anything and then someone receives a story, they'll know to discount you from their guesses :)

Happy writing

My God I forgot about this!

I dont even remember what my mission was....must find that....

I didn't remember either, ratsy, but I remember who I was writing for so I had to go back through this thread and check. I have no idea what to write. I'm having a really horrible 'everything I write sucks balls' month at the mo.
