Discussion Thread - 100 Word Anon Writing Challenge for December 2014

"No Words" -- The narrator's informal and individualistic voice lends an air of reality to this tale of awe-inspiring events.

"Did We Really Walk on the Moon?" -- This intricate and highly intellectual poem contains a wealth of allusions that reward close reading.

"Forever Ascend" -- This subtle and mysterious story suggests that there is more to seeming happenstance than meets the eye.

Knowing how difficult it is not to react and reveal yourself, I would like to thank you, Victoria, on behalf of all my "clients" for your wonderful reviews.

I was thinking (I do that occasionally) - it's clear there wasn't enough guessing done on the previous Anon challenge (although I admit to a couple of facetious guesses myself). Perhaps posting the names of those who've participated will encourage in the admittedly difficult task of recognising the perpetrators sufficiently to get more guesses, but it's not for certain. (What, me miffed at the fact nobody even considered I had entered, despite my unbroken record? Heaven forfend.)

But is it any shame in one's style being recognisable? Should one not feel pride that one can be recognised (not as better, but as an individual)? None of us have any desire to write precisely like each other (or anyone else, for that matter). Improving our writing does not involve approaching some sort of hypothetical perfection, but becoming the most effective possible in communicating a message, and that will change depending on the specific message to be transmitted.

I believe that posting the names of entrants would add some extra spice to the contest, after entries are submitted and voting begins. Along with the difficult task of choosing one story to receive a vote, now we would have to try to match up author to story. I like the idea.

As I understood the discussions after the last one, and as you say Will, it was suggested that I should publish a list of the entrants, though not in any particular order after all the entries were in. (i.e. at the same time as opening the poll).

So:
Do you think this will make the guessing more fun?
Will it actually detract from the whole anonymity of it all?
And finally:
Do you think we should do it.

Maybe I should open a poll on that last one.

I think it is a lot more fun to guess who wrote what when you know who entered. And for those who aren't familiar with the regulars who enter this stuff they will have no way to guess at all.

So I vote, "Yay on Bill 11"

Poor Chrispy. Hangs head in shame.

I'd like a list of entrants. I found it very hard last time. Pleeeeaaassse.

Also, I'm quite happy if I have a style people recognise. I believe that's called my voice. :)

I also would like a list of entrants, the way we do for the SS challenge guessing. Knowing what the choices are makes it more fun and less daunting.

I'm happy that people think my stories were written by Ursa, because that means my punning is improving. :D

Note to self...TDZ wrote a punny one....ok, my spreadsheet now has one thing in it...and i will get yours and Ursa backwards.

Did I write one yet? I read them and I can't tell

Err...well...I meant last time. And whether I also mean this time is a great mystery of life. :D
