Discussion Thread - 100 Word Anon Writing Challenge for December 2014

Just posted a story for another client.
(Luvly jubly :))

Keep em coming!

The intent, in this case, Karn, is to inspire you to write a story. And you ain't got long left to do it. (Always assuming that you haven't done it already. :))

Where you get your inspiration from in the theme (A word, the play, a feeling) is your own to find.

The joke will be on YOU if you miss it.

There will be one of mine in the selection.

I take it that each entrant is only allowed one submission, as in the standard writing challenges, rather than multiples (as has occasionally been the case in SS's, so that entrants don't miss out on stories altogether)? Perhaps we ought to be a little clearer on rules - but no. Informality can have such interesting side effects.

Chrispy.
Yes. Only one entry per person.
My apologies that the rules are not sufficiently explained. I'm sure the person who runs it in January will be more careful.
As someone who has never taken part in the SSs I was unaware of the possibility of multiple entries, and therefore also of the need to make that point. :)

"The Messenger" -- The author creates a memorable character and an effective mood in this open-ended tale.

"Rise of a Tyrant" -- This psychological character study shows us how events can shape our personalities.

"Don't Mention the Cat" -- Advanced scientific concepts become the playthings of the author in this droll tale.

"Fortune's Fool" -- A mixture of part and future is seen in this evocative, emotional story.

Well, farntfar, you've done an awesome job in the running and advertising of this month's anonymous challenge.
I think it's cool that we're gonna have a list of names this time. It's gonna inspire me to try and put a name to every story: yet another challenge!

Thank you Ashleyne.
Well with 4 hours to go, I just want to encourage you or anyone else to enter, if you haven't already.
The more the merrier.

Also I'd like to thank Victoria once again, on behalf of all the boys and girls and other beings, for whom I've had the pleasure to act in this challenge.

And indeed I'd like to thank you, the aforesaid beings for placing your trust in me. I've had a wonderful time.

Uh, one thing I've just spotted - farntfar, are you going to throw an extra name in, so that people don't have to deliberately guess an answer wrong to hide which one is their one? i.e. imagine there were only three entries. Person A, Person B, and Me! And three stories. If I think Person A wrote 1, B wrote 2, and I know I wrote 3, I'd either have to put my own name against my own entry, or only guess 1 out of 3 with my actual guess. Whereas if there was spurious person C in the list, I could go A, B, C in safety. This would only work, obv, if C was a credible person to be in the list.

Or just possibly I'm overthinking this.

It's an interesting idea Robert, but I think, as you said, a bit overkill. If, shall we say, Springs has not entered, so I put her name in the list, it would spoil the whole point of giving the list. If I put a fictitious author (Henry Kissinger for instance) so that you could put his name against your own story it would still be obvious it was you. Now I'm overthinking it. :)

Use any plan you like. Noone will know if you've deliberately exchanged your own name with someone else or really guessed your own story.
Personally, if I got a couple right I'd be pleased, even if one of them was mine.

Oh. And another one has just arrived, so we're up to 19.
Let's make it at least 20.
