Star Trek: Discovery - new series in 2017

I thought Enterprise started well and had some solid episodes but I did not enjoy the Xindi storyline and all of the retconning that came with. The show ending was bloody awful and made my glad I hadn't watched every single episode.

That song was awful and made me want to pull out my hair, it just doesn't feel like a Trek soundtrack.

I enjoyed all of Enterprise - except the whole of the last season. It was painfully obvious the writers had reached burn-out.

And the song was awful.

Seriously?

A quick Google shows Enterprise is currently on Pick TV and Virgin 1. Some Star Trek series is practically always on some channel. It is hard to miss it. I often just play "guess the episode" (However, I'm not that good with the newer series.) ;)

I do that with Frasier ;)

Do you mean 'seriously you enjoyed it?', or 'seriously you haven't seen it all?'?

It started out very well and went downhill . I wanted the Earth /Romulan War.

The thing is Enterprise is a TOS prequel series - do we really need another?

I wanted to see new technology, new alien species (without needing a timeline retcon), a bigger and more grander scope, more powerful ships and weapons.

I wanted to see Federation World Ships and all sorts of other ideas, instead I suspect we might get another mediocre Enterprise style Star Trek.

@Dave I do that all the time with The Next Generation on CBS, I have seen every episode anyway but I just put then on for easy watching. And it pleases me greatly whenever Jean Luc says either "Engage" with a customary straightening of the arm, or "make it so" as the camera pans. :)

I want to know what happened with the uniforms. How did they go from military style like Enterprise and Discovery, to laid back sexy shirts and mini-skirts.
Would love to see Sonequa Martin-Green show off in one ;)

Not really. I was in for 6 years, and they changed three times. And the last was far different than the first. (And today's are still more different!)

I don't think the dispute is that military uniforms change just that the changes wouldn't be so fundamentally drastic in form and purpose.

I assume the uniforms didn't change so drastically between the variations you saw? More like a version change than a major overhaul.

Between the first and the third the changes were rather dramatic.

Completely different color, different and more pockets wore like cargo pants rather than slacks.

Of course but I assume the changes were always purposeful? Form and function can be seen as a given in the newer era Star Trek outfights, I am not sure why the Federation would eschew form and function for the purpose of more flesh on show?

I mean I don't expect an in show explanation or anything, I just think this is a small if obviously identifiable issue when thinking about show continuity, another of the reasons I would not have made another prequel.

I do take your point though :)

Phyrebrat, must agree entirely on the song. Sounded like the intro a TV evangelist programme.

And on the final episode. That's one of the few I've actually seen and it's... well, if they'd ended DS9 that way I'd be less than happy.

I only meant that you couldn't be seriously giving your excuse for not watching all of it, that you could never catch it on TV. There was an excuse back in the days of TNG as I didn't have a VCR to begin with. When I did get a VCR I watched about 5 a day - someone had recorded them in the USA. The BBC was always a few years behind.

Yes, our changes were functional. But this is moot in the ST Universe. But fashions change, and I can see Starfleet changing with them.

Ohhhh, I see. I did try to find it but there were not enough seeds on the torrent so I gave up. I've also missed it on Virgin - I saw it, but didn't want to series-link it in case it was beyond where I saw up to.
