Imperial Assassin

I wanted to share :D I wrote a review for Imperial Assassin and the website's informed me it's in the top 10 hits on their site :D :D
Im so thrilled that Mark's book is getting a lot of interest :D

I finished Imperial Assassin this week. I enjoyed it even more than Imperial Spy. Reynik is quite a likeable character! And I admire the general-emperor Surabar's dislike of employing certain tactics; it's refreshing to read about a political leader who questions the morality of what he orders others to do.

I couldn't help thinking about current world affairs when Surabar realizes why what he's ordering is wrong: "It's like mounting an assault on a nation with whom you're not a war to get to your enemies. That nation might not be friendly, but they are not a part of the current fight. It contravenes the military codes of conduct" (161).

Glad to hear that you enjoyed it, Brown Rat. I'm still working hard at improving my writing skills. I felt this story was tighter than the previous one, but am now struggling to re-find that balance with Imperial Traitor. I guess the more you learn, the more self-critical you become.

Mark,
It was great to see you at Banbury and Oxford this week. How did it go? Looks like the books were pretty much flying off the shelves!

It was also really interesting to meet Amanda Hemingway - now I need to go and finish reading 'The Greenstone Grail'...

Wow! I've not been around for a while and am well behind with my forum - sorry, folks. Both Banbury and Oxford were good days. I'm not sure what the total sales figures were (they were a bit blurred with there being the two of us).

This last week I did four full days and a short day on my own in some of the top WH Smith stores. I sold around 940 books and would have broken the thousand if it hadn't been for my son's birthday on the Saturday - dashed inconvenient, I say! I think I'll move his birthday to June next year to get it out of the Christmas period!

I finished Imperial Assasin. It was fantastically wickedy-smooth.
When's the next book coming out, oh, and when's the film coming out for one of your books?

Next book on 3rd Sep 07 - editing it now. The film... who knows? Maybe one day. I live in hope.

I think if you bought it at book signing events you could get it a bit earlier. Don't quote me on that though.

And agreed, this book is definately good. It's taken me a while to get round to reading it because of revision and coursework to be getting done but now I'm reading it, I'm not sure if I'll be able to stop tonight. It's as interesting and as full of intrigue as the last book, but the writing has improved yet again. I don't know how you do it :p

I will read Imperial Assassin one day...('onest guv)...well, after I've read Imperial Spy that is  But I've had little time for reading, what with various things happening (and too many blasted essays to write...*yawn*) However...Christmas holiday officially starts on Friday, and I.S is sitting on my bookshelf at home, waiting for me to return to it. And of course, many, many other books. Boo yah. I am going to do SO much reading, my eyes will possibly fall from their sockets! Woot.

*snorts derisively* I'll say. I have a 2,000 word essay for Friday, about psychoanalysis, formalism and literature...oh yes, barrels of fun. But anyway, now is not the time (or the thread!) for such conversation...it is the "Imperial Assassin" thread, after all! :D (I've been told off too many times for deviating from the topic of the thread...:p)

I haven't, unfortunately. I have read the Darkweaver Series though. Thoroughly enjoyed them. Imperial Spy is on my "to read" list over the christmas holiday. And many other books are on there as well...I have a lot of reading to make up for, having had to put it off for the last 2 months while I get used to this University lark. :D

lol i havent read the darkweaver books but i will iv got to go now hope to talk to you again and tell us what you think of the books when you have read them :p
