Guess the comic character

Another Villian Guess

I am sure that I am further breaking a few rules when it comes to this guessing game, but here is a link to some evidence I found on the net supporting the notion that my guess was a correct one.

Okay, everyone, take a guess as to who is the following supervillian:

Re: Another Villian Guess

Adria indeed - Ozymandias. :)

As for the pic above - is it Scarecrow from Batman? Not sure about the style of dress, but I can only think of two villains who wander around with bags over their heads. :)

Nope. You're in the wrong comic universe.

That is a good guess, though. Scarecrow is one of my favorite Batman villians. It makes me want to dig out some back issues....which are in storage more than a few states away.

Yes that is quite a toughie, maybe JP or Ravenus will know otherwise we might need a clue...

Well I'll take a wild guess and say Mysterio, cos he tends to hide his face. Though I've never seen him wear a hood before.

The orange suit really reminds me of someone, but god knows who.

Yeh I thoguht it might be the original Baron Zemo who has been sketched with a face covering and then I thought from the dress it looked spanish so I guessed the other Marvel nemesis Matador but I've never seen him dressed like that!!

Well done McMurphy you've come up with a genuine stinker...:D

Oh, I never thought of that angle. Unfortunately, it is not the ever elusive Mysterio in this case.

Hint #2: Although it is not Mysterio, the villian's name does begin with the letter "M."

Is that the one? Anyway, I'm still no closer to getting it.

How about for the next clue, you tell us the superhero associated with this guy? ;) Then I'll know whether I actually stand a chance of getting it or not :p

I suspected the Hulk, cos of the whole "give me your rage" stuff.

I never really read the Hulk though, so I'm screwed :(

Negative on both guesses.

I'll reveal it if the answer isn't given after tomorrow, and post a new character the following day so people don't get sick of the thread.

Final Hint: The Hulk fought him in the early and mid nineties. His first encounter nearly killed him as the Grey wise-cracking Hulk, and his second encounter came about during the Merged (or Professor) Green, Intelligent Hulk. That encounter was drawn by Gary Frank. Both encounters were written by Peter David.

Well I've found this character a really difficult challenge. I know about 40-50 Marvel villians whose names start with M and not one of them have I seen drawn in this way. However going on the clues that the Hulk is this persons main adversary honed it down to probably Maggia, Mr. Coot, Mystery, Muggers and Madman to name a few as Peter David was involved with those. The fact that Peter David and Gary Frank collaborated on the editions as provided by the final clue led me to the conclusion that only the Madman fits that critetia. I know he has special powers that allow him to increase in size and change shape, so perhaps this is another form I've not yet seen of this supervillian.

The problem here is that Madman first made an appearance in The Incredible Hulk in the late 1980s which kind of blows my theory a little but he seems the most likely to fit the clues provided.

Maybe I'll win a cuwpie doll consolation prize for my efforts if I'm proven incorrect...:D

My guess is Madman. Not confident though....

Hold up your score card because....BINGO!

The character posted is, in fact, Madman.

I was first introduced to the villian (and I believe it was the character's first ever appearance) in the Incredible Hulk saga entitled "Countdown 4-3-2-1" (although Madman did make very brief appearances in the two issues before that) in issues #364 to #367.

Madman had developed a poison---a type of hyper AIDS---that was quickly eating away at Hulk's immune system, which forced him to keep up with the rotation of the sun so he didn't convert back to Bruce Banner at daybreak. The last chapter of the saga was also the mainstream introduction of the artist Dale Keown (Pitt). Great issues, and I highly recommend picking up them up. Characters such as the Fantastic Four, the Abomination, the Leader, and others make guest appearances.

Madman didn't reemerge again until issues #407 to #409, which was during the Professor Hulk years (ie: the merging of Green Hulk's body, Grey Hulk's attitude, and Bruce Banner's intelligence) drawn by the ever talented Gary Frank. The UK characters Motormouth and Killpower make appearances, also. The issues are good, but the storyline isn't as strong as "The Countdown 4-3-2-1."

HERE is a link to a profile I found online for Madman....which wasn't the easiest to find, so congrats GOLLUM!

The thread is yours.

Re: GOLLUM---Da' WINNA'

Thanks McMurhpy. I was referring to those earlier issues which were produced in the late 1980s, which was what had me confused. I've never seen that link before nor from my vague memory the issues featuring Madman in that particular garb, so it was something of an educated guess. Lucky stab...

I'll post something soon....:D

Re: GOLLUM---Da' WINNA'

Well here's a friendly little guy.

Unfortunately if you wish to cheat I can't stop anyone from right clicking the pic but hopefully you'll have a go first rather than do that....:(

Maybe someone can PM me about how I can exactly post a pic and provide a false or alternate link to the right clicking brigade...:)
