Guess the comic character

OK I've just worked out how to attach the image, so please use this pic as your reference.

If one of the administrators could remove my previous post with this same image that would be good...

So any ideas who this fun little critter might be?

Hmmm...this is within the pages of Marvel, isn't it?

Sidenote on the subject of the Hulk/Madman: You are right about the late '80s appearance of the character. My memory of childhood comic collecting isn't as strong as I first thought it to be. Madman made his very first appearance in November of 1989, but the "Countdown 4-3-2-1" storyline finished in the early months of 1990.

Hint #1: Look within Marvel comics as McMurphy suggests.

OK I'm off to sleep but I think this needs some more clues.

Hint 2#: This character appeared in marvel comics in the late 1970s and early 1980s and to the best of my knoweldge has not resurfaced since and belonged to an alien world.

Hint #3: The character's name is a palindrome. In other words it spells the same if written forwards or backwards like the name "bob" for example.
 
There is actually a small Hulk connection to this character, right? Is this alien associated with The Defenders?

My guess is Xhoohx. The time frame and the palindrome hints were very helpful.

So, am I correct?

Yes Salazar wasn't too far wrong but I think you'll find its Sergio Aragone's Groo The Wanderer......:D
