GOT discussion for aSoIaF readers (SPOILERS)

Yay too! I'm all for that! :D:D

I loved the scene when Drogo was stalking about his tent vowing to take the Seven Kingdoms for Dany. After having had about 20 words all series, he made up for it tonight. I swear I got goosebumps watching!
I'm with you all on this one! Bring on the equality, we should takea poll on who's first, I vote for Drogo!:D;):D

And seriously the Drogo scene this week was awesome! I was thinking "This is why she loves you. now maybe you can not die on her this time!"

What a great ending!

I am confused though, I'm not sure what else is to happen before Ed's decapitation. Except Mirri Maz Duur coming into the picture.

Have I just forgotten bits or is the pacing in this part going to be slower than in the books?

Trying to think what must come before. Mirri MazDuur needs to come in, Arya has to at least get away (yah a Syrio scene!) Robb should take to the field, make a deal with he Freys, and capture Jaime. Jon will have to deal with the wrights they bring back. Some things they can maybe move around a little without too much effect but don't think they can really get around these. I kinda think Ned's decapitation may be the last thing we see this season.

There's really quite a lot still to go: Mirri Maz Duur and most of the stuff wherein Drogo gets hurt/sick. Robb raising his host. Jon fighting Othor, getting Longclaw and finding out about Maester Aemon. Arya's escape. Sansa's talk with Cersei and letters to her family. Sansa begging for Ned's life. Barristan being kicked out of the Kingsguard and the Hound being let in. Tyrion descending from the Eyrie and meeting the mountain clans. Tyrion meeting back up with Tywin. Catelyn meeting with Robb. I'm pretty sure Robb has to cross the Twins and capture Jaime before they behead Ned too. Also a big fight between Lannisters and Roose Bolton/Robb's guys.

...yeah. That's all in two episodes as well. And I omitted anything Ned related. He should still have a scene of talking to Varys at least and, like the Imp, I REALLY hope to see a ToJ flashback.

@Imp - pretty sure the extended 3-eyed crow dream will be the one in which Bran talks to Ned in the halls below Winterfell. We've essentially been getting snippets of that dream this entire time. I expect this dream is how the writers will convey Ned's sorrow at not being able to talk to Jon again before he died.

Nice synopsis.

The crow was flying into the crypts, so yes, your theory makes sense..

We better see or at least hear about the TOJ

Oh good! I thought all that Robb stuff happened in the next, glad to be wrong. And I'd forgotten (I have no idea how considering he's like my favourite character on the TV series) about Tyrion!

I was talking to someone today who hadn't read the books but is loving the TV show. He said he intended to read the books and I offered to loan him the first one. He said, "No it's OK. I'll watch the TV show then I'll just start on the second book. I don't need to read the first because I know what happens." I was absolutely dumb-founded! Obviously I put him right and told him he HAD to read the first book, as he was missing out on a lot of relevant details, but I wonder if other folks are thinking this way. I was honestly quite shocked at the idea of skipping the first book (and I think he saw that in my face!)

:D I had an awesome vision of an indignant penguin waving GoT at a friend...

LMAO!! One of the advantages of a big heavy book is that you can beat silly people around the head with it! He's the laziest guy I know, and that's all this is, just sheer laziness. Why read more books than you have to? Unbelievable!

I am encouraged when I hear people are taking up the books because they are watching the series. I have had many approach me asking me about them knowing I have talked about them for years.
More converted to R'hollor!!!!

I hope you told them that the books don't have pictures, only a lot of text and a few maps. ;):)

He's not a stupid guy, but I think the most complex thing he's read in his life is Harry Potter (this is a guy in his mid-20s). I believe he thinks A Song of Ice and Fire will be just like HP, only with more sex. Boy, is he due a wake-up call!

@TK-421 Yup, all the books are back in the best-seller lists. GRRM must be coining it in! (And good for him!)

Pleased to hear it - if he's making loads of cash he can take the next 2 years off all other money making projects just to finish the next book :D

I'm gonna be a pensioner before this series is finished lol

The only reason I'm not freaking out at the mention of a "pen shun" in a post about GRRM's speed of writing is that GRRM writes on a PC.

;):)

Great episode. I enjoyed Tyrion's parts, and Cersei is being portrayed exactly as I imagined when reading the book. Loved Syrio and Arya's scene.

See everyone - don't need "infohumps" to make a great episode!

The first few minutes did make me think of Monty Python though... http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=DPXG4pdPj4w&feature=related

LOL I never saw that Monty Python clip thanks! You guys do have a point!

I am almost looking forward to seeing Lancel Lannister in his Kingsguard armour...

Lack of infohumps makes this Stormtrooper sad.

Anyways, great episode. Excellent acting all around. I'll reserve my praise for the thread in the GOT forum.

I think GRRM gave us the answer to that question many of us have been asking ourselves: Is Syrio really dead?

You could not tell from the screams that Arya heard as she headed down the stairs and one may wonder as there was quite a bit of screaming, that Syrio somehow killed all those Lannister guards and Ser Meryn Trant (who was very well played).

The answer was in the scene with the throne room when BFS is stripped of his position by Cersei. I could have sworn that one of the Kingsguard that faces BFS when he takes out his sword was Trant, unhurt. I have yet to confirm and will try when I rewatch the episode On Demand. If it is Trant, then we know that Syrio is truly dead.

Syrio was kick-ass, I hope he's not dead. But how could he have survived? I guess the wooden sword is pointier once it's been broken...

There were also five or so swords lying around after their owners were clubbed with said wooden sword.
