I really thought I was paying attention while watching this episode...DamnitI could have sworn I heard the bells toll, especially during Ned's conversation with Varys and Littlefinger.

I'm with you all on this one! Bring on the equality, we should takea poll on who's first, I vote for Drogo!Yay too! I'm all for that!
I loved the scene when Drogo was stalking about his tent vowing to take the Seven Kingdoms for Dany. After having had about 20 words all series, he made up for it tonight. I swear I got goosebumps watching!
There's really quite a lot still to go: Mirri Maz Duur and most of the stuff wherein Drogo gets hurt/sick. Robb raising his host. Jon fighting Othor, getting Longclaw and finding out about Maester Aemon. Arya's escape. Sansa's talk with Cersei and letters to her family. Sansa begging for Ned's life. Barristan being kicked out of the Kingsguard and the Hound being let in. Tyrion descending from the Eyrie and meeting the mountain clans. Tyrion meeting back up with Tywin. Catelyn meeting with Robb. I'm pretty sure Robb has to cross the Twins and capture Jaime before they behead Ned too. Also a big fight between Lannisters and Roose Bolton/Robb's guys. What a great ending!
I am confused though, I'm not sure what else is to happen before Ed's decapitation. Except Mirri Maz Duur coming into the picture.
Have I just forgotten bits or is the pacing in this part going to be slower than in the books?

...yeah. That's all in two episodes as well. And I omitted anything Ned related. He should still have a scene of talking to Varys at least and, like the Imp, I REALLY hope to see a ToJ flashback.
@Imp - pretty sure the extended 3-eyed crow dream will be the one in which Bran talks to Ned in the halls below Winterfell. We've essentially been getting snippets of that dream this entire time. I expect this dream is how the writers will convey Ned's sorrow at not being able to talk to Jon again before he died.
I was talking to someone today who hadn't read the books but is loving the TV show. He said he intended to read the books and I offered to loan him the first one. He said, "No it's OK. I'll watch the TV show then I'll just start on the second book. I don't need to read the first because I know what happens." I was absolutely dumb-founded! Obviously I put him right and told him he HAD to read the first book, as he was missing out on a lot of relevant details, but I wonder if other folks are thinking this way. I was honestly quite shocked at the idea of skipping the first book (and I think he saw that in my face!)
Great episode. I enjoyed Tyrion's parts, and Cersei is being portrayed exactly as I imagined when reading the book. Loved Syrio and Arya's scene.
See everyone - don't need "infohumps" to make a great episode!
The first few minutes did make me think of Monty Python though... http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=DPXG4pdPj4w&feature=related
There were also five or so swords lying around after their owners were clubbed with said wooden sword.Syrio was kick-ass, I hope he's not dead. But how could he have survived? I guess the wooden sword is pointier once it's been broken...
