Discussion Thread -- 300 Word Challenge #13

"Musey doosy doo, where are you?"

Frustrating this; don't want to read the entries posted so far until I've one of my own to post. Still, plenty of days left, eh!

Hey Stormcrow...seems like a slow month so far so I think there are many others who haven't finished yet. It is already the 24th! Good thing a weekend is coming up hey?

yep ratsy...I'm relying on the weekend! You're right tho' - there must be many others still to come (feeling better 'bout that now!)

Unlike me, who sits down and writes one with not enough editing or thought...you really should take your time. Wish I still had a weekend to post...damn me and my impatience.

David Evil Overlord -- The author performs a very difficult feat by balancing the satiric content of the story with its more serious aspects.

Perpetual Man -- The emotional honesty of this story avoids sentimentality while raising profound questions about humanity and the arts.

Remedy - "Slaves's Trophy" Quite an involving mythic tale of Doulos, and his prized possession, a forged mask of Hephaistos. Lots of powerful imagery surrounds your mighty story that has great elements molded into refined metallic art.

Juliana - "Whispers" Shocking, and even disturbing at it's finish. You've created a very creepy entry that is haunting and nightmarish. I double-dog-dare the reader to view your tale about the old man who recieves a visitor that gets more then he bargained for.

Springs - "Frizzled memories" Whoa nelly! A terrifing treat narrated by the monstrously minded serial killer who is not alone in his work. I was drawn into the freakish mind of a madman as I read this story to it's diabolical end. Horror at it's best.

Mr Orange - "The Gift" Astonishing entry about a hunter who has the ability to know where to find the victims of possession. Unfortunately, kiliing them is the only way to release the vile fiend from hell, from their demonic grip. Firece, with graphic goodness.

Rafellin - "Carry the Blessed Home" I was taken back by this bitter/sweet tale of love and remembrance. Very outstanding story illustrating the love for a dear departed mate. Beautiful descriptions paint a glorious background to this marvelous offering.

J. Hollock - "Opening The Gate" A very spooky entry about a pole that is soaked with mysterious and unknown powers that the people of a community respect. But when a young man's curiosity gets the best of him, he unlocks a mind shattering discovery. Awesome.

Ratsy - "Memory Stick" Upon a rocky beach, a strange totem washed ashore is found, and it has a power which channels a person to another place in the past, when it is touched. Tremendous tale that would make a cool episode for the classic tv show, The Twilight Zone.

Karn Maeshalanadae - "The Pillar of Souls" A bizarre work of art is discovered by a collector who is fortunate to obtain it for an inexpensive price. However, the item has an incredible being which emerges, and explains that the owner of the pole can have whatever they want. Super cool.

Victoria Silverwolf - "The Redemption Man" People of a small village always trade with a person they call, The Redemption Man. Until one day, the weird trader finally finishes his task of attaching what was given to him on a post. Then, things really get eerie. Spectacular.

Cat's Cradle - "USER NAME: Mylil.Pony666 (A Nefarious Conversation)" When you PM'd me, about using my "site name" in your story, I didn't hesitate to say, yes. Then I read the story, my jaw dropped, then I smiled and shook my head. You really came up with a firey entry of damned goodness.

Starbeast - "Gandalf in the Lair of Balrog" When I looked at the picture, I remembered I wanted to do a LOTR story for quite a while. Then a chain-of-events happened that lead me to the direction I wanted to go, and all fell into place. And I originally almost went for a horror story.

TitaniumTi - (untitled) I really enjoyed the way you wrote your tale. It flowed smoothly, leading one thing into another, slowly building speed, then, WHAM-MO! You clobber us readers with a dazzling and bloody end. Terrific and surprising.

Johnnyjet - "Maslow's Hierarchy of Needs Space Elevator" At first I thought your science fiction drama was going to lead me to an alien encounter. But you stunned me with an extremely well written story of a devine experiance. Wonderful and beautiful.

Brev - "Choice" An amazingly chilling tale of humans, faith, insight, and what goes bump in the night. Thrilling and intense moments highlight this fine spine-tingling story that has a gory finish. A meaty offering which is an extra rare delight.

David Evil Overlord - "Future Imperfect" Alright, a time travel tale. And you even sprinkled a touch of humor into it. I'm certain, just about every person on Earth, wishes to see what the future holds for us humans, and your character found out. Far-out and fantastic.

Perpetual Man - "Tom" Extraordinany story, about an extraordinary man named, Tom. Intense drama begins with a mining disaster on Colony 3, many are dead and lost, except for Tom. Uncovering the debris in the cave. a startling discovery is made. Mysteriously cool.

:) I loved "damned goodness" in your review! Thank you Starbeast, I am really happy you enjoyed that nefarious little tale!! :)

You're welcome Cat's. I was truely surprised with what you came up with for a story.

Thank you, for including me in it.

Many thanks for the comments Victoria and SB, your kind words are greatly appreciated.

Thanks, Victoria & Starbeast, for your great comments! Especially considering I didn't know how well it was going to work.

Right... I did say it was a little dark. Mr Orange said it was ok, so I posted, so blame Mr Orange.

I've had a read of what has gone on so far and it's good stuff. Google as a god (we all know that already) and mad murdering Irish people as just tasters - it's going to be very interesting indeed.

Can we have a nice sunny picture next time? Puppies maybe? Kittens?

I just found out too A. Fare Wells, real sorry to hear you can't be with us on the 300. But I'm glad you're making the best out of it.

I get so paranoid about the word counts, I purposely make my stories a few words under. But I still count it over and over.

I'd like to read it too. :)

Be happy to post it here once the voting's done on the wonderful stories that folks have written. And for those interested, I'll put up both, the first one which was under count and the one that I edited, or maybe revised is a better word, after posting that the cut and paste word count failed to count accurately.
