Discussion Thread -- February 2016 75-word Writing Challenge

Robert Mackay -- This haunting, dreamy tale offers an allegory of the things we look back on and regret.

Phyrebrat -- The deliberately old-fashioned style of the narrator adds to the power of this melancholy story.

pambaddeley -- An increasing sense of menace is created in this suspenseful story.

Bob Senior -- The author has fun with this amusing footnote to the career of a famous performer.

Jo Zebedee -- This story manages the difficult task of creating terror with a poetic style.

crystal haven -- Through the use of an unreliable narrator, we learn how we can deceive ourselves through misperception.
Thanks Victoria.

Thank you Starbeast. Horror isn't my thing but I thought I might give it a try. I couldn't go wrong with a limit of 75 words. :D

Firstly, nice to meet you. And second, you did a very fine job. This is actually one of the rare times that someone has specifically suggested "Horror" as a genre.

Thanks SB.

You're welcome Nixie.

Thanks Starbeast.

You're welcome Pambaddeley.

Thanks, Starbeast & Victoria, for the great comments!

You're very welcome Johnnyjet. It's a pleasure for me.

Many thanks for the reviews SB and Victoria

You're mighty welcome Mr Orange. Lots of great ones to read this month.

@Bob Senior Hairy without pants. I mean, Harry without pants. A well brewed blend of horror/comedy.

@Jo Zebedee A mysterious being must be kept from curious human eyes. Very intriguing and cool weird.

@crystal haven Beware of the Goblins!!! They will take what they want, and they may want you. Monstrous.

@JordanSC5 Has Mr Death arrived to overlook his destruction that has happened to humankind. Or is it, someone worse?

@mosaix What could be more frightening than knowing that something unseen is closing in on you? Darkly disturbing.

@LittleStar A child is befriended by a strange being who lives in the woods. And it promises, vengeance. Eerie excellence.

Little Star.... I like it! A lot! It leaves me wondering what will happen in the next scene.

As has been (hopefully) noticed I have been incredibly quiet on the forums over the last couple of months, with my participation in discussions dropping off, and certainly no comments. (I have missed doing them).

Life has taken one of those sudden turns with work getting really busy and tying me down a lot more than it normally does - and it may well do so for the forseeability future. In addition to that I'm running Admin on a Facebook group that has gone a little crazy. I expect this to drop off after the initial surge of novelty wears off. (Sorry can't invite anyone here to take a look, tis a closed group intended for people who went to the same comprehensive school I did).

And I'm working on a Facebook page for my business, that is taking most of the time at the moment.

Of course I'm trying to keep up with the challenges, have something jotted down for this one and hope to get it in before the deadline.

@Ursa major What is unseen can be a pleasure for the rare few, while a nightmare for the common folk. Utterly horrifying, but royally cool.

@HazelRah Roses are red, violets are blue, when the clock strikes 12, The Shadow Grimm, will get you. An excellent rhyme from hell.

@reiver33 Beware the Dopplegangers. You already know what they look like, they look like YOU!!! Evil harbingers of bad luck. Double trouble, but delectable as twice baked potato.

@willwallace Like the Clash, asked, "Should I stay, or should I go?" Decide and survive, because there is someone dead, who wants to meet you. A twisted treat.

@Alex The G and T Who knows what lurks inside the human mind, a friend, or a fiendish foe. We'll have to wait and see. Great stuff.

@Tim James All of us have been alone, in the dark, at one time or another, when we were children. Is there anyone, out there? Gripping and creepy.

@chrispenycate Do we really know who helps behind the scenes of theater plays? Humans, surely...or maybe someTHING all together, unearthly? Masterfully written.

Thank you, Victoria and Starbeast.

You're mighty welcome Crystal Haven.

Thank you Victoria and thank you Starbeast for checking out my tail of horror.
Bob

I like your Harry tale. I can't wait to see your back story. I'm sure you're excited to expose every detail in front of all of us..
