Hear, hear, soul. I strongly identify with Jaime, because I felt that I was expected to be something of a shining knight, yet I suffered a crippling injury (psychologically speaking)... how does one overcome the loss (or great loss of self-esteem) and still be expected to be great?

Now I really am expecting Egg to show up and start throwing shoes at me...

Back on subject... GRRM has said that Tyrion is his favorite character because Tyrion reminds Martin of himself. I wonder in what ways... I'd also hazard guesses that Martin sees something of himself in Arya and Bran... but that's just me projecting.

But GRRM has not stated (as far as I know) which character he detests. My guess would be Chiswyck, the Tickler, or any of the Mountain's minions.
 
My guess would be Gregor. A lot of the "bad guys" have some slight redeeming feature or excuse (Joffrey was just an idiot kid, Cersei forced into an abusive marriage, Walder a vengeful old git (actually he is pretty bad)) but Gregor has nothing, he kills and maims and rapes just for kicks.

Maybe GRRM likes the character for that reason... a chance to exorcise the id ;)
 
Hehe, Davos was boring as hell. But if it's about hatred, then Walder Frey. Treacherous bugger. I hope his todger rots.
 
It's a bit late in the day for that, thaddeus. There are already Freys everywhere.

My memory for names can be a bit rubbish, but I was pleased to recognise every single option above. Was a toss-up between Frey and Cersei.
 
I'm thinking it's the latter. For some reason, I have the feeling that Jon will be happy to hand the reigns over to another Mormont.
 
Well, he lusted after a 13 year old girl. I meant like a sexual and emotional predator, really more like a parasite. He's just a disgusting individual. He demonstrates possessive and paranoid behavior frequently.

Also, he's kind of gross and ugly.

Awww, you shouldn't judge someone by their looks ;)

But I guess I see your point. Nonetheless, Dany had already been married, and quite happily it seemed. It's not like he was corrupting a naive young innocent or coercing her... she was clearly on more than equal footing with him and did just fine in protecting herself from unwanted advances. He truly seemed to love her, however misguided it was. It did jeopardize his judgment, and he did betray her (or at least he became close to her under false pretenses, I thought he had somewhat ended his informing by the end). But I don't think there was anything prurient or predatory about his feelings for her. Have to keep in mind that in this world, once a woman has flowered she is no longer considered a child, but a woman grown.

Cat sees Jon as the living representation of Ned being unfaithful to her. SHe was never able to get past.

As for Brienne, she's not dead. Things don't look good for heer but.........
